9th May 2025 - Commemorating and celebrating 80 years of liberation from Nazi occupation and freedom across Jersey, the Channel Islands and Europe.
On 9 May 2025, Jersey will mark 80 years since its liberation from Nazi occupation, when British troops arrived aboard HMS Beagle. As the only part of the British Isles occupied during the war, the Channel Islands held strategic significance for the invading forces, who saw their capture as a step toward a broader assault on Britain.
Liberation 80 is a milestone anniversary, offering a meaningful opportunity to share the experiences of those who lived through the Occupation. Islanders will be able to engage in various events and activities celebrating art, culture, sport, and education.
