About the Author: Donald Frank Brown was born in Inverness, Scotland, in 1943 during the Second World War. He took A-levels in Classics and English before studying English at Exeter College, Oxford where he won an exhibition in English Literature. During his gap year, he worked in Paris selling the New York Times. After graduation, he spent several years as an English teacher, first at a Brighton Grammar School, and then at international schools abroad, including the United Nations School in New York. Having settled in the Island of Jersey, he founded St Brelade’s College, a language school. He is married with three children and ten grandchildren.
