Seymour’s Seaside Picnic is a children’s picture book created by a local writer Penny Byrne in aid of the Jersey Child Care Trust. It is a charming, rhyming tale of friendship and the joy of living here on Jersey.
The Story Behind the Book
More than 1,000 students from 23 different local schools entered our competition to help illustrate the book, with 85 of them featured in the book itself, their work all cleverly woven into the background spreads by the amazing local illustrator Lauren Radley, to make a truly fascinating and inspirational book.
Maker: Penny Byrne in aid of the Jersey Child Care Trust
The Jersey Child Care Trust is a small, local charity making a big difference for children living with disabilities and/or adversity. By putting families first, the charity delivers a variety of programmes to enable all our children to have the best start with the vision that every child in Jersey has access to the nurture, care and learning they need to thrive.
In 2019 the charity supported 39 children with special educational needs and/or disabilities in 19 mainstream private nurseries providing over 9,800 hours of support. Without our support, the children would not have been able to go to nursery to play and learn alongside their peers. Find out more about the charity at www.jcct.org.je
