Mon Vie is Jersey French ‘Man Vyi’, which is the equivalent to the French ‘Mon Vieux’ (My old friend). However, the literal translation from Jèrriais is simply ‘my old’. Nevertheless, the meaning behind the phrase is the same; A term of endearment spoken to friends and loved ones, alike.

They are a relative of the scarab beetle and a type of dung beetle, essentially they are nature’s recyclers! These ink studies were undertaken in advance of Ian Roll’s Pitt Street chewing gum project, where you can see my “street art” version of these Dor beetles.
