Local boy fascinated in Japanese culture and art. A recent trip to Japan and seeing Hokusai’s work in person reignited my interest.
Ukiyo-e manages to capture the majesty of nature and man living in harmony or at times surviving nature. I love its ability to transport you to a particular time and place or to a place I would like to visit. Its grounded yet fantasy-like style is the perfect medium for me and I love to feature some of my interests or elements of pop culture.
Although traditional ukiyo-e artists use woodblock, its simple but effective style allows anyone to draw it like myself using just a black pen and paper. I hope I am able to capture your imagination too.
